Motorists using the M4 motorway are being advised to check the latest traffic conditions as several lane restrictions and roadworks are affecting sections of the route today.

At the latest update, there was no active major accident-related closure recorded across the M4, although roadworks and lane restrictions remain in place at various locations.

M4 Live Traffic Update

One of the main restrictions reported today involved the eastbound M4 between Junction 18 and Junction 17 in Wiltshire.

The hard shoulder was closed from around 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. because of maintenance work. This was a planned restriction rather than a collision.

Other planned restrictions are scheduled for this evening, including eastbound lane closures between Junctions 19 and 15.

Are There Any M4 Accidents Today?

Current live traffic information does not show a major active accident closure on the M4 at the time of the latest check.

Several earlier lane restrictions have already been cleared, including restrictions around Junctions 18–17 and Junctions 11–10.

Drivers should nevertheless expect localized delays where roadworks and maintenance are taking place.

M4 Closures Tonight

Additional planned restrictions are scheduled from approximately 7 p.m. tonight.

These include eastbound lane closures around Junctions 19–18, Junctions 17–16, Junction 15 and Junction 12, with some restrictions continuing into the early hours of Friday morning.

Drivers making longer journeys across the M4 should therefore allow additional time and check conditions before setting out.

  • Some daytime maintenance restrictions have already cleared.
  • Planned eastbound closures are scheduled for this evening.
